Job Description

Our Tasting Room Sales Associates form the backbone of the customer experience at The Hive Winery & Sprits Company. Associates will be responsible for communicating with our guests on the numerous products that The Hive Winery has to offer and should have a passion for wine / spirits and be open to learning the details of our portfolio. We are seeking a warm and friendly, outgoing, professional, reliable, trustworthy person with a passion for the products we create to join our team.

This is a part-time opportunity for weekend and holiday shifts, around 7.5 hours per week (2 to 6 days a month).

Duties include:

• Greet all customers in friendly and welcoming manner
• Create a warm and memorable experience for the guests
• Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of winery and its products and be able to effectively communicate this to a variety of customers
• Answer general phone line which may involve answering questions, taking phone reservations, providing directions, etc.
• Process customer purchases efficiently and accurately
• Conducting wine & spirit tastings
• Prepare food trays for tastings
• Present wines & spirits in a professional and knowledgeable manner
• Educate the customers and answer questions about The Hive Winery & Spirits Company and our unique products, as well the story and history of the business.
• Effectively suggest and sell wine/spirits to customers
• Clean tasting room equipment and glass wear.
• Opening and closing the store
• Assist in maintain the cleanliness & appearance of facility
• Including dusting and light cleaning of retail store displays and all public areas within the facility
• Maintain inventory on floor, including wine, spirits, and retail items
• Assist with other production tasks as needed, which may include (among others):
• Wax capping & labeling spirits
• Assisting with fruit preparation during peak harvest season.
• Processing recycled bottles
• Stringing hang tags for bottles
• Represent The Hive Winery and all products with professionalism, enthusiasm, and detailed knowledge.

Desired Skills & Experience Requirements include:

• Professional, personable, welcoming, with excellent hospitality and customer service focus.
• Must be at least 21-years-old
• Must be able to work weekends, including Sundays & most holidays
• Must have or obtain a Davis County Food Handlers Permit
• Must have or obtain a Utah Alcohol Servers Certification
• Existing knowledge of The Hive Winery Products preferred but not necessary
• Retail or hospitality experience a plus.
• Able to work in a range of temperatures and work conditions
• Able to stand for up to 8 hours
• Able to push, pull, carry, or lift, up to 40 pounds
• Accurately handle routine purchase transactions.
• Assist customers with carrying out purchases to their vehicles when necessary.
• Follow all company policies/procedures and all company policies
• Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
• Follow opening and closing procedures.
• Open to working and assisting with special events after hours if needed
• Open to working other special events off property when needed
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
• Passionate about helping others learn about craft wine & spirits
• Follow all safety and hygiene protocols for guests and employees.
